Well, HELLO

Opened the door of the RV this morning to find guests eating at our picnic table! Too funny, especially when I figured out that they had to come out the door of their camper and walk around it!! But wait, I thought, maybe I was wrong. Walked past their camper and there was their empty picnic table. Campers are very friendly people!

At Dunewood Campground in Indiana Dunes

Breakfast: Vegetable and ham scramble with English Muffins and strawberries
Can we call this camping??

A camping fan!

Yesterday afternoon I rode my bike around the large campground. Campers are such creative people and such diversity from the large class A motorhomes to the small tents but this took the prize for creativity.
A woman was sitting in front of this large fan but moved right before I took the picture. Actually she moved the direction of the fan towards the fire cause the smoke from the campfire was drifting towards her!

Indiana Dunes

After travelling 2300 in 7 days Zoie is exhausted.

Camping at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.Lake Michigan is located 1.5 miles north of the campground.  A South Shore Railroad station with service to Chicago and South Bend is located 1/4 mile north of the campground on Broadway.
An old building that now serves as a snackbar and restrooms facility provided fun photos.

Look closely at the white feathers softening the nest.

Say CHEESE!

Maytag is a blue cheese produced on the Maytag Dairy Farms outside of Newton, Iowa, the former home of the Maytag Corporation. In 1938, Iowa State University developed a new process for making blue cheese from homogenized cow's milk instead of the traditional sheep's milk.

In 1941, Maytag Dairy Farms began producing world famous Blue Cheese in the heartland of America with milk from a prize winning herd of Holstein cattle.

Maytag blue cheese is made by a time consuming method of hand making cheese in small batches, using fresh sweet milk from Iowa dairy farms. We were told the cows used to in the pasture next door. Each batch of cheese is monitored carefully during the long months of aging in curing caves.

The ownership of Maytag Dairy Farms is now in the third and fourth generations of the Maytag family.

Crossing Nebraska

Sunday, June 22nd
Storms ended and woke up to a beautiful sunny day. Heading across the state of Nebraska, glad to see green landscapes again. Decided to stop earlier today and enjoy the Summer weather. Found a sweet spot called Mormon Island named for a winter stopover used by Mormon emigrants heading westward.

Dark cloud

Saturday, Jume 21st
There's a black cloud hanging over us...
In Sidney, Nebraska
Saturday, June 21st First Day of Summer

Stayed at a KOA campground for the complete hookup including WIFI. Great shower facilities! Took a evening swim in the pool. Huge change in landscape after coming through Yellowstone and Grand Teton.

On the road again late morning driving Rt 80 E across Wyoming. Huge expanses of land. Spotted some herds of wild horses. Interesting fences constucted, as I can only imagine, to keep the drifts off the highway in the winter.

The Grand Grand Teton Mountains

I thought the first view of the Teton Range was stunning.
And then we came to the next viewpoint.
And the next!!! The jagged vertical peaks of the Teton Range rise as high as 7,000 feet above the Snake River Plain.

Rise and shine..........

Friday, June 20th

Up early! The Keurig coffeemaker is much appreciated for the ease of making that morning cup of coffee!
We awoke to chilly temperatures in the 50's. No electric hookups in the campsite so no heat. Roughing it!
Quiet hours until 8:00 AM when we could turn the generator on.

Sure beats that old coffeemaker setting on the fire!

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Thursday, June 19th We were out of service area so here's a recap of the day.
Explored Yellowstone National Park by entering the West gate of the Park, traveling through exiting South gate. Yellowstone is one gorgeous view after another but the most amazing views were of the massive Yellowstone Lake. Buffalo (or Bison) were plentiful and all along the road was evidence that they were shedding their winter coats by seeing the bark rubbed off the trees. This buffalo (bison) was casually walking alongside the road causing traffic jams.
Loved seeing this buffalo next to a hot spring.

We did not make reservations to stay in the park so drove to Grand Teton National to the first campground, Lizard Creek, and stayed for the night.
